The State Election Commission on Sunday directed the District Magistrate of Birbhum to file an FIR against Trinamool leader Anubrata Mandal for making a provocative speech in which he had usged party workers to attack rivals and even the police. We have told the DM to take action against Mandal,” Tapas Ray,secretary of the commission,said. The SEC has also instructed the DM to keep a watch on Mandal.
FIR against TMC MLA for threatening to kill
An FIR has been filed against Trinamool MLA from Labhpur,Manirul Islam,for publicly threatening to kill Birbhum district Congress secretary Bapi Dutta. I trampled three people to death. I will take just one minute to tear the head off Bapi Duttas body,” Islam said at the rally on Saturday.
Arrest leaders for hate speech: BJP
The BJP on Sunday demanded immediate arrest of political leaders for spreading hatred and using provocative language so that the criminals under political patronage can step back. The party also demanded compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the family members of poll-violence victims. Besides,we also demand expense for their treatment,and Rs 2 lakh each to those hospitalised, BJP president Rahul Sinha said in a letter written to the West Bengal Chief Secretary Sanjay Mitra.
Repolling in 24 booths
The SEC on Sunday ordered repolling in 24 booths in the three districts that went to polls in the third phase. The polling will be held on Tuesday.
