(Express Photo) The Enforcement Directorate Saturday conducted raids at three locations in Hooghly district and interrogated a Kolkata-based man with alleged links to expelled TMC leader Shantanu Banerjee in connection with the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) recruitment scam.
Officials said the ED also searched the home of Ayan Sheel, who is allegedly close to Banerjee, in FD block of Salt Lake area of Kolkata. Sources said the agency also cross-examined Sheel’s mother and father.
Sheel had rented the house around three years ago. He had told the owner of the house that he worked for a movie production house, they added.
Sources said that the ED also summoned three persons identified as Supratim Ghosh, Niloy Malik and Vishwarup Pramanik and who were reportedly close to the former TMC youth leader and interrogated them at a resort in Balagarh on Saturday. ED officials also seized several documents from the resort.
Meanwhile, the CBI summoned Sujay Krishna Bhadra in connection with the bribes-for-jobs scam again. He was questioned in connection with the case last week too.
According to officials, the agency has asked Bhadra to appear before it again on Tuesday. Bhadra reportedly works in the office of TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee.
“Abhishek Banerjee is my saheb (employer). I work in his office. I have been working there since 2009,” Bhadra had told media persons earlier.
