Vote to bring the latest horror blockbuster to Kolkata
A spooked Steven Spielberg can translate to millions. Ask Oren Pali, the Israel-born video game designer who made a film with a hand-held camera and a crew of friends which is on its way to create box office records around the world thanks to a certain Mr Spielberg. Back when Dreamworks studio was trying to decide whether it wanted to be part of the supernatural thriller,Steven Spielberg decided to take a DVD of Paranormal Activity to his sprawling mansion, and not long after he watched it,spooky occurrences started happening all around him. The door to his empty bedroom was inexplicably shut from inside, forcing him to summon a locksmith. Spielberg refused to have the disc anywhere near his home,so he quickly brought the movie back to DreamWorks in a garbage bag.
The DVD for sure had a bigger destiny waiting for it. Though Dreamworks agreed to buy the film they wanted Pali to remake it. However, they abandoned the plan after a test screening had people running out of the theatre because thefilm was too scary for them. The film revolves around a young American couple,Katie and Micah, who seem to be haunted by a supernatural presence in their home. Paranormal Activity is presented in a documentary style, using found footage from the camera set up by the couple to capture what is haunting them.
