Eight long-distance trains had to be cancelled and six diverted after train services on the Khragpur-Tatanagar section was suspended following the abduction of the driver and the assistant driver of the Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express by the Peoples Committee Against Police Atrocities (PCAPA) activists.

With the 2443 Rajdhani Express being stopped near the Banstala halt between Sardiha and Jhargram stations on Kharagpur-Tatanagar section at 2.35 pm,trains on that stretch were stopped or diverted due to security reasons.
