As Maoists blew up a railway station and stormed another in Sundergarh district of Orissa on Saturday, train services were disrupted in Howrah and seven trains under South Eastern Railway (SER) remained cancelled.

“There has been no injury or casualty, but railway property including station building and signalling equipments was damaged. While some of our trains from Howrah were cancelled, others were rescheduled,” said a SER official.

“For security reasons all the trains on Howrah-Mumbai route passing through the affected area were held up at various stations till police clearance. After receiving the security clearance around 11.45 am,a goods train was sent through the area. Later, the normal services were resumed,” said the official.
