For the past two years,Ruhaniyat, the Sufi music festival organised by the Mumbai-based cultural organization,Banyan Tree, has regaled serious music lovers of the city. This summer,Banyan Tree brings to the city another unique festival Teen Prahar – a day long festival of classical music featuring the top Hindustani and Carnatic musicians of the country all together on a single stage.

Reputed classical musicians of the city like Rupak Kulkarni (Flute),Kaushiki Desikan (Vocal),Tejendra Narayan Majumdar (Sarod),Ustad Shujaat Khan (Sitar) and Pt Anindo Chatterjee (Tabla) will perform in this unique event .

Kolkata, was an obvious choice for a venue for such a musical concert claims the organizers. “We feel that Kolkata is the right place for the finale of Teen Prahar. We have ensured that the line-up features 50 per cent artistes from Kolkata and the rest from other parts of the country. Its an opportunity for music fans with their families to come and spend a Sunday. This is the best way to promote our tradition and an occasion where you see many artistes together and even attending each others’ performances,” says Mahesh Babu,Director of Banyan Tree.

Teen Pahar will be held on March 22 at GD Birla Sabhaghar from 9-30 am till 10 pm.
