Actor Imran Khan is seriously uncomfortable when hes surrounded by a bunch of screeching,star-struck,college girls. Are you all going to grill me one by one? he asked a tad nervously. The 26-year-old actor was at the DLF Mall,Saket,to promote his latest action film Luck, directed by Soham Shah, which hits theatres on July 24. Talking of luck,Khan shrugged,I dont believe in just luck, but in hard work and destiny. Still I consider myself fortunate on having reached this far with the support of my friends and family.
However,in the film,Khans character is not very fortunate. He portrays a middle-class Mumbai boy Ram Mehra burdened by problems. In an effort to pull himself out of the mess,he meets a gangster played by Sanjay Dutt, who puts him through a series of hurdles. This is purely an action movie. I have done a lot of stunts for the first time, says Khan, who jumped off helicopters and swum with sharks in South Africa. I had a week-long crash course in scuba diving in South Africa and we had a 10-day shoot underwater. I had to bulk up a little to look less boyish, he chuckled.
Khan shares screen space with debutant Shruti Haasan, his love interest in the film. Initially I was self-conscious about acting with her. Weve known each other since childhood, said Khan. Three-film-old Khan understands the volatility of the industry; his second film Kidnap had sunk without a trace. The path to success or failure is not about change, but about how consistent you can be, he explained philosophically. Introspection will certainly help.
