Personal enmity behind Nitish ignoring Modi security: Hussain

BJP Tuesday accused Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of not providing adequate security for Narendra Modi’s Hunkar Rally.

BJP Tuesday accused Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of not providing adequate security for Narendra Modi’s Hunkar Rally at Patna on Sunday, owing to “personal enmity” and malice.

“There were intelligence inputs from the Centre but they were totally neglected. Even standard security measures like installing metal detectors, sanitizing the ground, deploying adequate number of policemen, were not followed. We believe it was because of personal enmity and malice out of which Nitish did it,” BJP MP from Bhagalpur and party’s national spokesman Shahnawaz Hussain said here.

Hussain said Modi could have become a victim of the serial blasts, which claimed six lives. “It is a criminal negligence on the part of the state government. General people do not know how many security people guard him —- probably the highest number in the country. But,how many people he deployed for Narenbhai?,” he asked.

Hussain, who accompanied Modi from airport to the Maidan —- the rally venue —- gave a personal account of how things unfolded that day.

“I,along with (senior BJP leader) Rajiv Pratap Rudy, went to the airport to receive Modi and told him about the blasts. But he said the rally would go on and he will address it. Modiji ne jaan hatheli pe le kar rally kiya (Modiji took a big risk in attending the rally). There was just one DSP present at the airport and one ASP at the rally site. Only one junior official of the state government came with a bouquet and we decided to get even that checked for explosives. In fact, the way the Bihar government treated Modiji, who was a state guest,is a matter of utter shame. Nitish Kumar should apologise for the lapse,” the BJP leader said addressing the media in Kolkata.

Hussain said the dreams of Nitish Kumar to become prime minister of India will never be fulfilled. “Wll he get the support of Mamata Banerjee,Naveen Patnaik,Mulayam Singh or Jayalalithaji? Never,’’ the BJP leader said.

He further said that it was a matter of immense shame that terrorism was taking roots in an area of Bihar, which is home to patriotic Muslims who never left India after partition. “The members of the IM module came from Kishangunj in Bihar from where Muslims didn’t go to Pakistan. Nitishji will have to give an explanation why the young people (from the area) had to resort to terrorism,’’ Hussain said.
