No let off in post-poll violence

A CPM party worker was killed in Saltora in Bankura on Sunday. Ajit Lohar,CPM local committee secretary of Taldanga was allegedly dragged out of his house and killed by unknown miscreants.

Another Zonal committee member,Samir Nag,who was present at the spot,was also injured in the attack and has been admitted to hospital. A Left Front delegation comprising Garbeta MLA Sushanta Ghosh and senior CPM leaders Mohd Selim and Suryakanta Mishra visited the spot and met the family of the victim.

“We strongly condemn this brutal attack by the Trinamool Congress goons on our party leaders. They have been carrying out pre-planned attacks,which should be stopped immediately. We have submitted memorandums to the DM and the SP asking for immediate steps against the accused,” Selim told The Indian Express over phone from Bankura.

In another incident,a local Trinamool leader died at Gorabazar in Behrampore after miscreants hurled bombs on his motor bike. Kamal Sheikh died on the spot. In neighbouring West Midnapore’s Keshpur,a Trinamool supporter was injured by a bullet wound. Police today confirmed that around twenty CPM workers were arrested for carrying arms and rioting in the area.
