Naga jawan opens fire at colleagues,two dead

Both Dominique and Bor were rushed to a hospital. Dominique died on way to hospital and Bor succumbed in the Tata hospital.

The bodies were sent for an autopsy. A breath analyzer test has revealed that Limba was sober at the time of the incident.

Zulfiqar Hassan,Inspector General,Western Range,said: “There was no heated argument between the jawans. The witness told us that the move of the accused jawan was completely unprovoked and unprecedented. We have arrested him and we have started interrogating him. He might be suffering from depression.”

“There could have been more loss of lives. The jawan fired more than 60 rounds indiscriminately,” added Hassan.

A senior police officer,however,conceded that trouble began after Limba fired two rounds in the air without any reason. Hearing the shots,Dominique asked him not to fire. “But a heated altercation broke out between them. Limba fired several rounds at the inspector,who was in-charge of the company,” the officer added.

“A SAP constable also came running but Limba shot at him as well. He was rushed to the hospital,where he succumbed to injuries,” he added.

Incidentally,a couple of months ago deployment of NIRB company in Purulia was mired in controversy after they opened indiscriminate fire on two civilians who died on the spot. The case was taken up by the CID.
