Modi doesn’t get time to visit Manipur but goes to Lakshadweep: Trinamool

The ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday over his remarks on Sandeshkhali and accused the BJP of “not doing its duty” in states like Manipur and Uttar Pradesh.
Addressing a government programme in Hooghly, the PM said that people across the country were “sad” and “enraged” over the alleged atrocities against the women of Sandeshkhali by local TMC leaders.
Reacting to the PM’s allegations, West Bengal Women and Child Development Minister Shashi Panja said: “He was speaking about atrocities against women but what about women of Manipur? He never bothered to visit the strife-torn Manipur.”

TMC spokesperson Shantanu Sen said, “The Prime Minister goes to do snorkelling in Lakshadweep, but does not find time to visit Manipur.” Alleging that the BJP is an anti-women party, Sen said the state government has given 50 per cent reservation for women in panchayats and has introduced schemes like Kanyashree for the welfare of women.
Later, the TMC on its official ‘X’ handle posted: “PM Narendra Modi, pura desh akroshit tha (The entire nation was angry) when women were being paraded naked on the streets of Manipur. When minor girls were brutally raped and hung from trees in UP. When women wrestlers faced sexual harassment from a BJP MP. Why is your concern selective, Modiji. Are the women of our nation mere tools for your political gain?”
CPI (Marxist) leader Sujan Chakraborty said, “On Modi’s orders, the ED and CBI are protecting Mamata Banerjee and her government.”
Mamata meets PM at Raj Bhavan
