Man arrested for beating wife to death in Nadia: Police

Punya was allegedly a habitual drinker, said police.

According to police sources, Punya came home in an inebriated state on Friday night and wanted to go out again to consume alcohol, when Pinki tried to stop him.

“There was a fight between the couple over alcohol and the husband allegedly beat her up. Pinki had sustained a head injury and was initially admitted to a local hospital but her condition deteriorated so she was shifted to a private hospital in Krishna Nagar. She succumbed to her injuries on Saturday morning,” sources in the police said. Punya was later arrested on murder charges, they added.
