Despite CPMs clarification that the Rs 16 crore in a SBI account under the name of party leaders Biman Bose and Nirupam Sen belonged to party and collected through various means from party cadres,Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee fanned the issue saying the money in the bank account of the two leaders was hurriedly transferred to the party account recently. Claiming that she had seen the documents,Banerjee alleged that she had knowledge of more persons from the CPM with huge bank balances and would provide documents about one of them soon who has Rs 9 crore in a bank account.
Madan now claims Maoist threat SMS
Transport Minister Madan Mitra on Monday said he has received a SMS threat from the Maoists in the wake of his decision to form anti-terror committees to thwart the Left-wing extremists. I received the SMS last night and have already lodged a complaint with the police. I am not afraid of such a threat. The decision taken by me will remain unchanged. Those behind this SMS are cowards. If courageous,they should come forward, Mitra said. Mitra earlier suggested setting up anti-terror committees in North 24-Parganas,where elections will be held on July 19.
