New job for Infosys chief?
Faux pas of a senior officer at a programme to launch the cybercrime station at their Lal Bazzar headquarters has left the top brass of the Kolkata Police red faced. Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and N R Narayana Murthy,founder of the Infosys were present in the programme. During his presentation,the officer,however,announced that the cybercrime station is going to be inaugurated by Chief Minister N R Narayana Murthy.

Unwelcome change
Minister for Land and Land Reforms Abdur Rezaq Mollah,who was in north Bengal last week,was greatly peeved when he got to know from media reports that there was again a change in the post of Land Reforms Commissioner. Sabyasachi Sen — who had been handling the post and that of the commissioner general for over two months — has been made the chairman,Public Service Commission. Calling up chief secretary Ardhendu Sen,the angry minister said: “You are changing my secretaries so fast. In one year you changed three secretaries. Now why don’t you yourself become the secretary of my department as you have got only one month left to retire?” Immediately after,RD Meena,who was there in the department for three months earlier,was given the post.

Justice at hand
The prospect of a regime change in the 2011 Assembly polls has brought about some convulsions in the state’s bureaucratic circles. While some officials considered close to the ruling party have sought Central assignments,those marginalised by the state government are waiting for Mamata Banerjee to come to power. Subesh Das,principal secretary to the chief minister,wanted a safe haven in Tea Board. On the other hand,AB Chakrabarty,principal secretary in the Paschimanchal Unnayan Affairs department,who resents that he was not given the promotion he deserved,says he will not go to CAT for a redressal of his grievances. “I will have to wait for ages for a CAT verdict. I will go to the next government and seek redressal,” Chakrabarty said.
