Though former Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee has retired from political life,he keeps himself busy in various social works in Bolpur. He recently wrote to the chairman of the local municipality complaining about littering at several places and urged him to keep the town clean. The chairman assured him that special attention will be given to his complaints.

CHIEF Minister Mamata Banerjees petty matter remark about the death of SFI leader Sudipta Gupta is being attributed to her poor knowledge of English. Trinamool leaders say the CM didnt want to trivialise the death of the student and used the word petty without knowing its meaning.

JAIL minister Hyder Aziz Safi was angry at DIG Khairul Islam during the inspection of a plot for setting up an open air jail as the officer was in civilian dress. Safi,a former IPS officer, ordered Islam to immediately wear uniform. But,he didnt say a word to IG (Prisons) Ranvir Kumar,who too was in civilian dress.
