Mayor resigns from waterworks panel

Mayor of the Trinamool-run Kolkata Municipal Corporation Sobhan Chatterjee resigned as the chairman of the advisory committee of the Garden Reach Waterworks run by government-run Kolkata Municipal Water and Sanitation Authority on Wednesday. I have already faxed my resignation to Municipal Affairs minister Asok Bhattacharya, he said,alleging non-cooperation in augmenting drinking water supply to south Kolkata from the Garden Reach Waterworks. The supply,he said,had dropped from 120 million gallon per day to 80 million gallon.

CPMs tribal outfit

To counter other tribal outfits opposed to the state government,the CPM formed a tribal organisation West Bengal Adivasi Adhikar Mancha. The state CPM secretary Biman Bose announced this at a rally at Malbazar falls in the Doors,Jalpaiguri,on Wednesday. The West Bengal Adivasi Adhikar Mancha would fight for the rights and developments for the tribals,said Bose.
