Home away from home for Goswami

Shreevats Goswami had mixed feelings on eve of his team Bangalore Royal Challengers’ game against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens. For the local boy it was unusual to be seen as an outsider at a venue that happens to be his home ground when he is playing for Bengal.

But the 20-year-old stumper, who is expected to open the innings for Royal Challengers, says it is important that he takes this outing as a true professional. “Bangalore is my team in the IPL. Whoever be the opponent,no quarters will be given,” he says.

After scoring three centuries in the recently concluded Deodhar Trophy tournament,Goswami is confident to hit the ground running during the IPL. “Rahul Dravid told me I was batting well and that was a huge morale booster for me,” Goswami said. The game will also mark the return of Dravid to competitive cricket after he missed Test series against South Africa due to the cheekbone fracture he suffered during Bangladesh tour.

Dale Steyn,Eoin Morgan,Dillon du Preez and Roelof Van Der Marwe are likely to be the four foreign players for Bangalore since stars like Kevin Pietersen,Ross Taylor,Cameron White,Mark Boucher and Jacques Kallis are yet to join the squad. The brilliant show put by Owais Shah and Angelo Mathews showed that Knight Riders didn’t miss stars like Chris Gayle,Brendon McCullum,Shane Bond and David Hussey.
