The City Sessions Court today allowed the Enforcement Directorate, following the latters petition,to take chairman of Saradha Group,Sudipta Sen,into custody for 15 days to interrogate him.
Sen will be in custody until November 1. The ED had mentioned in the petition that it had collected documents and materials detailing how the group collected money from the public and wanted to interrogate Sen in connection with these documents.
The EDs findings were based on the probe it conducted into the chit fund scam under the Money Laundering Act. A counsel for the directorate said the agency intends to find out how the group collected such huge sums of money from the public and on how it now plans to return that money to the public.
