Within a month of questioning senior CPM leader Gautam Deb in connection with an alleged land scam case,the CID,which is probing the allegations,will once again summon the former housing minister. The summon has not been sent to Deb yet.
We have decided to interrogate Gautam Deb again as we required to do in connection with the land case. However,we have not yet decided on the date of the interrogation. Since the panchayat elections are on,we will call him after considering everything, said Shibaji Ghosh,ADG,CID.
Deb,however,was not available for comment.
According to sources in the CID,a direction from the Chief Ministers Office has reached the agency in which it has been directed to file a chargesheet soon in the alleged land scam case. Sources said the CMOs direction prompted the CID to call Deb again.
On June 22,Deb was questioned by CID officers for nearly two hours at the agencys heaquarters,Bhavani Bhavan. It has been alleged that Deb as housing minister signed project deals with Bengal Greenfield Housing Development Corporation Ltd in which former chief minister Jyoti Basus son,Chandan Basu,was also an alleged beneficiary.
On April 2,Housing Board Secretary Ajay Dutta lodged a police complaint alleging serious financial anomalies in the transactions with Bengal Greenfield Housing Development Corporation Ltd.
