Class 10 student dies in Kolkata after ‘falling from school’s 4th floor’, family alleges foul play
The victim's family lodged a complaint at the Kasba police station alleging foul play in the incident leading to the boy's death.

A class 10 student died allegedly after falling from the fourth floor of a private school in the Kasba area of south Kolkata on Monday, police said.
The victim’s family lodged a complaint at the Kasba police station alleging foul play in the incident leading to the boy’s death.
The police said they have registered a case of unnatural death as it was unclear whether the student committed suicide or fell down from the balcony.
The student’s father said, “My son and one of his classmates were taken to the fifth floor of the school building by their teachers. The classmate returned after a while but my son did not. Despite falling to his death from a height, his body showed no signs of broken bones. He was first killed and then thrown off the fourth floor.”
“My son had to submit a project but failed to do so. His teachers scolded him and beat him up over the issue. He felt humiliated,” his father alleged.
The student’s body was sent for post-mortem, officials said.
Reacting to the allegations, the school authorities said, “An investigation into the matter is on. No school will ever target children and harass them. We are a children-friendly institution and no teacher reacted the way it’s being alleged.”
The incident brought back memories of the death of a student of Jadavpur University allegedly after falling from a balcony of the varsity hostel as he was allegedly subjected to ragging by his seniors.
Several students and alumni have been arrested in the case.
