Cargo handler to move HC against KoPT

The ABG-LDA-led cargo handler Haldia Bulk Terminal (HBT) will move Calcutta High Court saying the Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT) and the district administration has failed to improve the law and order situation at Haldia Dock Complex (HDC).

The ABG-LDA-led cargo handler Haldia Bulk Terminal (HBT) will move Calcutta High Court saying the Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT) and the district administration has failed to improve the law and order situation at Haldia Dock Complex (HDC).

Gurpreet Malhi, chief executive officer of HBT,said: “As law and order situation remains grim at Haldia port,we have decided to move the high court. We have already requested KoPT and the East Midnapore district administration to restore the law and order situation at the port, but it did not improve.”

Malhi also said they have convened several meetings with port officials, urging them to improve the situation inside the port, but failed to get adequate response.

“The port officials have asked us to start operations before October 19,but its not feasible for us to start operations in such a short span of time looking at the current law and order situation prevailing at the port,” Malhi added.
