Kolkata:A patient suffering from pancreatitis walked out of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital with his tubes on,and died on the footpath opposite the building on Sunday.

Khokon Pal,a resident of Jagatdal in North 24 Parganas,was admitted to RG Kar on August 24. On Sunday,he reportedly came out of the hospital along with some relatives who were visiting him. The Ryle’s tube was fitted on his mouth. Witnesses said that soon after,Khokon felt dizzy. Then he collapsed on the opposite footpath and died. Khokon’s relatives alleged negligence on the part of the hospital as nobody had noticed a patient leaving the building with tubes on him. No complaint has,however,been filed.

5 Bangla nationals held in Jalpaiguri

Jalpaiguri:As many as five Bangladeshi nationals were arrested on Sunday from a hotel in New Jalpaiguri for allegedly visiting the country without carrying valid papers. Nimai Roy,Swapan Sharma,Pradip Barman,Litan Roy and Bilas Barman,who are residents of Thakurgaon village in Bangladesh,were arrested for intruding into Indian territory,police said. They entered into West Bengal through Hili border of South Dinajpur district,sources said. Later,they were produced before a local court which remanded them to seven days police custody.
