BJP picks up Didi’s Shahid Divas venue for its Utthan Divas

Rahul Sinha also took a dig at the CM’s comments that she would start painting again to raise funds.

Following TMC’s massive rally to mark Martyrs’ Day at Esplanade on Monday, state BJP unit has decided to write to Kolkata Police on Tuesday, seeking permission to hold a meeting at the same place.

“We want to observe BJP’s Utthan Divas on November 30 every year in Bengal. We have decided that we will hold the event at the same place,” said party’s state president Rahul Sinha.

He added that veteran leaders of the party would flock to the city for the Utthan Divas.

Coming down heavily on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s speech on Martyrs’ Day, Sinha said that Mamata accused BJP of being a communal party, but her mannerisms revealed she herself was communal.

“She sports a hijab, prays like a Muslim, announces honorariums for Muslim clerics and ends her speech saying ‘Khuda Hafeez’ and ‘In Sha Allah’ and claims to be secular. Even Muslims can see through her fake histrionics and this is evident in thousands of Muslims joining the BJP,” he said.

The state BJP president also attacked TMC for printing Iftar Party invitation cards with the CM’s picture on one side and Mecca’s photograph on another.

Sinha further said that calling BJP a communal force was an insult to the 17 per cent people of Bengal who voted for the party in the 2014 Lok Sabha election.

Reacting to the CM’s comments that the number of BJP MPs in the the state would drop to zero in the next Lok Sabha polls, Sinha said the Bengal CM was predicting what would happen five years later, but could not see what would happen two years down the line.

“She herself might be reduced to zero in the forthcoming assembly elections,” Sinha said.

Sinha also took a dig at the CM’s comments that she would start painting again to raise funds.

“She will paint but who would sell those paintings and who would buy them. Both seller Kunal Ghosh and buyer Sudipta Sen were behind bars,” added the BJP state chief.

Party sources also revealed that BJP president Amit Shah would visit the city to boost the morale of party workers.

“Shah would be coming to the Kolkata in August. The date has not been finalised yet,” a senior party leader said.
