BJP MLA son’s linked to cattle smuggling: TMC

Chakbraborty said, “Both the MLA and his son should be arrested immediately. We need to ask why the Enforcement Directorate is only targeting opposition leaders in the country. While the real culprits are being let off, Trinamool leaders are being harassed.”

The TMC leader further said, “The central government has not released Bengal’s due share for the 100-day work scheme and has let loose its agencies on Trinamool leaders. We seek a response from the Union Home Minister on the involvement of BJP MLAs in the cattle smuggling racket.”

The state’s ruling party also shared a purported audio clip of some local BJP leaders talking over the issue.

In the audio clip, BJP Kulti-III mandal chairman Kanchan Sinha is heard speaking to party Kulti-III in-charge Bibhas Singh, claiming that Keshav is involved in the cow smuggling racket.

The Indian Express could not independently verify the authenticity of the audio clip.

MLA Ajoy Poddar, however, rubbished the allegations, saying it is an attempt to tarnish his image.

“The TMC is indulging in character assassination. People of Kulti trust their MLA. The truth will come out,” he said while speaking to mediapersons in Kulti.

Kanchan Sinha said, “I have raised the issue with the district party leadership. Someone leaked the audio of my conversation.”
