Accused casts doubt over Rizwanur suicide note

The counsel of Anil Saraogi,an accused in the Rizwanur Rahman case,on Wednesday expressed doubt over the suicide note found after the computer graphics teacher’s death.

Amit Bhattacharya,Saraogi’s counsel, told the court that the CBI had found the note in Rizwanur’s cousin brother Reyazuddin’s computer. Reyazuddin had deleted the suicide note, which was later retrieved by the CBI. Since the computer was not just used by Rizwanur but by others too, there was reasonable doubt whether the suicide note was prepared by him,Bhattacharya argued.

Amit Chattopadhyay, the judge of the fast-track court, remarked that trial was required to ascertain whether it was a case of suicide or accident or murder.

Rizwanur was found dead near the railway tracks in Dumdum area of Kolkata on September 21,2007,just a month after his marriage to Ashok Todi’s daughter Priyanka on August 18,2007.

Bhattacharya said that Saraogi, the maternal cousin brother of Todi, had no interest in the Rizwanur-Priyanka episode.
