BSF shoots down Pakistani intruder along international border in J&K’s Samba

According to a senior BSF official, the alert troops noticed suspicious movement of a person around 2.30 am who had crossed the border from the Pakistan side in the Samba area.

A day after security forces apprehended three infiltrators in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch, BSF shot down a Pakistani intruder along the international border in the Union Territory’s Samba district early Thursday.

According to a senior BSF official, the alert troops noticed suspicious movement of a person around 2.30 am who had crossed the border from the Pakistan side in the Samba area.

The man was challenged by the troops, but the intruder kept advancing towards the border fencing. The BSF personnel fired on him and he died on the spot.

Meanwhile, police sources said Rs 450 in Pakistani currency was recovered from him.

Further details were awaited.

The Indian Army said Wednesday three local militants were caught and a large quantity of arms, ammunition, explosives, and narcotics were seized from them along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Khari area of the Poonch district. The three militants are suspected to have crossed over to Pakistan to bring a consignment into Jammu and Kashmir, it added.
