(File photo)Rajasthan IAS officer Bharti Dixit has filed a complaint with the state police chief, accusing her husband, IAS officer Ashish Modi, of assault, illegal confinement and illegal data access.
An FIR has been registered at the SMS Hospital police station in Jaipur on the basis of the complaint filed by Dixit, who is posted as a joint secretary at the Finance Department.
The complaint alleged that Ashish Modi, who is currently posted as the director of Rajasthan’s Social Justice and Empowerment Department, married her under false pretences and later subjected her to years of physical and mental abuse.
She described in the complaint an incident that allegedly took place on October 15. She alleged that her husband and some associates forcibly confined her in a car for nearly an hour and a half, threatened her at gunpoint to agree to a divorce, and later took her to a house where she was locked in a room.
Dixit further alleged that Ashish Modi installed a hidden spy camera in her room and connected her phone to other devices by which he could gain access.
When The Indian Express contacted him, Ashish Modi said, “I will fully cooperate in the investigation, and one point is to be noted that I was in Bihar from 4th to 7th November, 2025, when the FIR was registered.” He said he would not comment further on the matter as it is under investigation.
Dixit has sought police protection for her and her family, and requested that Modi be barred from entering her government-allotted residence. She also demanded strict action against him and his associates.
Following the submission of the complaint, police registered an FIR under sections 85 (cruelty by husband or relatives), 308(2) (extortion), 127(2) (wrongful confinement), 140(3) (kidnapping), and 61(2) (criminal conspitacy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with sections of the Information Technology Act that pertain to illegal data access. The investigation has been handed over to Additional DCP (Crime) Sriman Lal Meena of the Jaipur Commissionerate.
