A shop owner in Rajasthan’s Bhilwara district has said that he has received a notice from the Income Tax Department for a transaction of Rs 12.23 crore which he did not do.
“I have a small stationery shop and I am also specially abled. A poor person like me has received an income tax notice of Rs 12.23 crore. I can’t even pay monthly loan instalments. From where do I deposit this amount? I received the notice on March 28 and I was shocked to see it. I have no relation with the companies mentioned in the notice,” said Kishangopal Chaparwal, the shop owner.
Chaparwal suspected that someone has misused his PAN card.
“I want legal action against those who misused my PAN card. I earn only around Rs 8,000-10,000 a month. The notice says that there have been transactions worth crores in Surat in my name,” he said.
Nand Lal, SHO of Subhash Nagar police station, Bhilwara, said on Wednesday that Chaparwal has filed a police complaint and the matter is being investigated.
