Telangana under grip of coldwave, records season’s lowest temperature of 5.9°C
Over two dozen locations in Telangana recorded temperatures between 6 and 10 degrees Celsius.

Under the grip of an intense coldwave, Telangana recorded the season’s lowest temperature of 5.9 degrees Celsius at Bela in the northern Adilabad district early Thursday morning, , according to data from Telangana State Development Planning Society (TGDPS).
Over two dozen locations across Nirmal, Kumurum Bheem Asifabad, Sangareddy, Kamareddy, Vikarabad, Rangareddy and Rajanna Sircilla districts recorded temperatures between 6 and 10 degrees Celsius.
“Due to the western disturbance in the northern region and northerly winds flowing towards Telangana, cold wave conditions will prevail, and temperatures might drop further in the next two days and rise again later,” said an official from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), which also uses TGDPS data in Telangana.
Meanwhile, a social media account giving weather updates from Telangana put out a chart detailing minimum temperatures across various locations in the state.
The IMD’s Hyderabad centre has forecast the minimum temperature to drop by two to three after three days. “Mist or hazy conditions are very likely to prevail during morning hours at isolated pockets over Telangana during the next five days. Minimum temperatures are likely to be normal during the next three days; thereafter, it is likely to be below normal,” it said.
