A 70-year-old retired government employee's body was found in a decomposed state in his flat at LB Nagar on the outskirts of Hyderabad on Friday morning. Police said that Lakshmi Narayan Murthy was living alone and might have died almost a month ago in his home at Sai Residency apartment. Murthy's wife had gone to visit their daughters in the US about 45 days ago. Police believed that Murthy slipped and fell while coming out of the bathroom and sustained fatal head injuries. Although, he was not answering calls, his wife Lakshmi and their daughters did not bother to ask anyone here to check on him. "The neighbours also did not react although there was a foul smell coming all these days. On Friday, some family members arrived and broke open the door and found the body. The family members said that Murthy never used to talk much on the phone and also had hearing problem. So, they assumed that he was fine,'' an official said.
