Gurgaon doctor held on charges of raping, molesting his sister

A junior doctor of Medanta Medicity in Gurgaon was arrested on Saturday evening on charges of raping and molesting his sister.

Confirming the arrest, Gurgaon police commissioner Alok Mittal said, “It is true that we have arrested a junior doctor from Medanta Medicity on charges of raping and molesting his sister. The arrest was made after his sister lodged a complaint with police on Saturday.”

“She has alleged that her brother (33) used to sexually abuse her till 2005. She has also alleged that after 2005, he molested her on several occasions,” Mittal said.

A case has been registered at Manesar police station under Sections 376 and 506 of the IPC.

According to police, the accused began sexually abusing the victim (27) since she was in Class X.

“She claimed that he molested her whenever he got a chance. She currently lives in Delhi but had recently come to visit her parents, who live in Manesar. He molested her again after which she filed a police complaint,” a senior police officer said.

The officer said the victim, who is unmarried, has refused to undergo a medical examination. “She claimed that she was last raped about 10 years ago, and, hence, a medical examination would be inconclusive,” he said.

Quoting the victim, sources said her parents knew about the sexual assaults but forced her to keep quiet citing social pressures.

A Medanta spokesperson said Medanta could not comment on the matter since they had not been contacted by police.
