Mevani launches helpline for atrocity victims from Dalit, deprived classes

The helpline has been started to help such victims in dealing with the legal proceedings in which a person from Mevani's team will be available to help the people.

Vadgam MLA and working president of Gujarat Congress Jignesh Mevani has launched a helpline to help atrocity victims from the Dalit and other deprived classes of Gujarat.

Named ‘Swabhiman Helpline’ (9724344061), the facility is not only for the Dalits, but to help all people from the deprived sections of the society with the legal proceedings, Mevani said in a video message on social media.

The MLA stated that according to data tabled by Union Home Minister Amit Shah before Parliament, 1.89 lakh cases of atrocities against Dalits were registered in the country in the past four years. In Gujarat, too, people from various communities including the Dalits, tribals, Muslims, women and denotified tribes, face atrocities and discrimination, he said.
