Online entrance tests for foreign students

From this year,foreign students wanting to get an admission at the UoP will have to appear for an online entrance exam.

From this year,foreign students wanting to get an admission at the UoP will have to appear for an online entrance exam. Also,each guide will be allowed to have only one foreign student each. Only in special cases can a guide have a maximum of two foreign students,that too after a permission from the Vice-Chancellor.

R K Shevgaonkar,V-C,UoP,along with W N Gade,director,Board of Colleges and University Welfare (BCUD) and registrar M L Jadhav made the announcement today. Speaking about the issue of admission of a few foreign students who were not eligible,the V-C said,“These students got admission five years ago. We will be looking into the matter and henceforth,the admissions of foreign students will be regularised. It is owing to this,we are starting an entrance test for foreign students,” said Shevgaonkar.

The student wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party protested against the discrepancy in the admission process of these students.

The V-C said people involved in recruitment scam have been sent notices. “We are taking an action on the basis of the reports submitted by the Upasini and the JA Patil committees. The people concerned have been sent notices and action will be taken according to the reports,” added Shevgaonkar. Speaking about the issue of the transfer of students of disaffiliated Mulshi Institute of Technology and Research (MITR),Gade said,“We have sent the matter to the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) and now they will decide where should these students be sent.”
