Woman tries to end life at Gurgaon Mini Secretariat

A woman attempted suicide by allegedly consuming poison inside the Mini Secretariat,where the offices of government officials are located,in Gurgaon on Tuesday.

Naib Tehsildar,Ram Mehar said the woman had come to the Tehsil office on April 18 to register the sale deed of her land in her relatives name. He said no transaction of money took place before him and the entire consideration amount was already paid in the presence of witnesses.

Mehar said that after the registration,the woman,who was selling the land,approached the joint sub-registrar-cum-Naib Tehsildar on April 20,and said that though the document had been registered,the entire consideration amount had not been paid to her.

She allegedly threatened to commit suicide if the remaining amount was not paid. Mehar said he told her that once a sale deed is registered,the joint sub-registrar and sub-registrar do not have the power to cancel it. She was told to file a suit in the civil court.

Officials said that on Tuesday,she returned to the Mini Secretariat with a poisonous substance. She consumed some of it,and was taken to hospital,where her condition was stated to be stable.
