Sharbati,who belongs to Rajasthan and lives in Old Delhi with her family,said she had 60 flags,of which 25 were sold within an hour. “Three miniature Indian flags also cost Rs 10,” said Aarti. Demonstrators were also seen carrying large India flags. Manoj Hari Krishnan said he had bought the India flag for Rs 60 from a bookseller in Badarpur. Another demonstrator bought the Tricolour for Rs 100 from Khadi Gram Udyog. “At Rajghat,they were selling it for Rs 150,” he said.

T-shirt bargain

Many sported ‘I am Anna’ and ‘India Against Corruption’ T-shirts,which were available inside Ramlila Maidan. “The same T-shirt costs Rs 120 outside Tihar Jail. I got it from here for Rs 110,” said Tarun Kalra,a DU student.

Not for profit

Vendors selling Hazare merchandise said though the “profit-margin was not much”,this was their way of contributing to the protest against corruption. “Traders at Sadar Bazaar sell us 100 flags for Rs 45. They charge Rs 2 for a wrist-band,Rs 3 per badge,Rs 4 per headband and Rs 5 per cap. We then sell them at a little higher price to make some profit. We have sold 80 out of 100 caps in the past one hour. 50 headbands out of a set of 60 have also been sold,” said Rajesh,a vendor. Suppliers at Sadar Bazaar said production of these products has been increased to feed the demand.
