Waterlogged roads in Gurgaon after heavy rain Monday night and in the early hours of Tuesday slowed down traffic in various parts of the city, inconveniencing commuters and office-goers.
According to sources, vehicles had to wade through water up to two feet high on the Bestech stretch in Sector 47. In Sector 10, the low level of roads caused waterlogging in areas adjacent to Laxmi Bazaar and in the Sabzi Mandi area. Waterlogging was also seen in Sectors 5 and 15.

PRO of the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon, S S Rohilla, said waterlogging has been lesser this time when compared to the pre-monsoon showers last week, when there was much more flooding. He said the district administration had constituted four teams for different zones of the MCG to prevent and deal with waterlogging problems in their areas.
Balbir Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), said that while there was congestion in some parts of the city due to waterlogging, there were no traffic snarls.
Three electrocuted in capital
Three persons and a dog were electrocuted in three separate incidents in the national capital, said police.
The first incident took place Tuesday morning in southwest Delhi’s Najafgarh. Triloknath (62) and a street dog were electrocuted after they accidentally stepped into a pool of water which had accumulated following rains last night.
Electricity was running through the water because of a live uninsulated wire from a nearby pole, said an officer.
Locals called police who in turn informed the BSES about the incident. “BSES officials arrived at the spot and cut the power line for a few hours. The man and the dog were taken to a nearby hospital where they were declared brought dead. A case under sections 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC was registered at Najafgarh police station, said an officer.
In another incident, a 22-year-old medical student from Manipur died while she was switching off the water cooler at her friend’s home in north Delhi’s Christian Colony area in Maurice Nagar in the early hours of Tuesday.
Police said the deceased has been identified as Ringnam. The victim’s friends told police that Ringnam accidentally touched a live wire and got electrocuted.
“Police received a call from one of the victim’s friends. We took her to a nearby hospital but she was declared brought dead,” said an officer.
The third incident took place three days ago in southwest Delhi’s Bindapur area. According to police, an 18-year-old boy was electrocuted while he was filling water in his air cooler.
