From the cable-style Parthala flyover to Ved Van Park, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Sunday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 124 development projects worth Rs 1,719 crore under the Noida and Greater Noida Industrial Development authorities. The event was organised at Noida Stadium.
Now open to vehicles, the much-awaited Parthala flyover — an 84-crore project — connects Noida to Greater (West) on MP-3 road and has been constructed in a cable style like Delhi’s Signature Bridge. It is 650 metres long and a total of 28 cables have been used on both sides of the carriageway. Ved Van Park is in Sector 78, built on 12 acres at a cost of Rs 22.68 crore.
At another programme, organised by the ‘Save culture save India Foundation’ at Greater Noida’s Gautam Buddha University, he spoke of “conversion” of children “through gaming on smartphones”.
“If any attack has happened, or is happening, on our culture, be it through digital media or any other medium, its methods have changed; we have to understand those methods. Police recently disclosed a case — conversion through gaming on smartphones. This is a huge gang… Earlier, another gang was busted which used to target (differently abled) children… they (gave) smartphones to (them). Their (gang’s) scope was not limited to just UP. They had spread their work to 25-30 states,” he said.
He further said incidents of religious conversion are not happening only in Uttar Pradesh: “The recent incidents in Delhi and Mumbai are examples of this. When we saw two-three such incidents in UP in 2020, we came up with an ordinance. There was a lot of uproar. We then passed an act.”
He called on “Sanskritik Yoddha (cultural warriors)” to make people aware of such attacks but said they should not take the law into their own hands. “… Your responsibility is to inform families… Society has to be made aware… If you take law into your hands, you will help them by opening a loophole,” he said.
The UP CM further said all countries of the world have their own unique identity. “For example, if we look at France, art is its identity. Britain is known for its business interests. Similarly, the identity of India is its culture. India can’t tolerate (anyone) playing with its culture. The Mughals ruled this country comfortably until they attacked the temples; when they started attacking temples they started to decline…,” he added.
Former Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan was also present at the event.
Adityanath also inaugurated a sub-station in Noida Sector 123. It has been developed at a cost of Rs 142 crore. Apart from these, he inaugurated an underpass near Advant and projects related to traffic improvement. In Greater Noida Authority area, projects inaugurated include a plant for disposal of sewage from Greater Noida and internal development work of Industrial Sector Ecotech-10.
“We have to move forward with a positive thinking of development. People’s perception of Gautam Buddha Nagar has changed in the last six years… People from every corner of Delhi and the country want to come to Noida and Greater Noida. Jewar International Airport, Film City and other infrastructure facilities are being developed here,” he said.
