Two suspected operatives of the Tillu Tajpuria gang have been arrested in Delhi with illegal firearms after police foiled a murder plot, officers said on Friday.

The arrested men have been identified as Parth (22) and Vikrant (21), both residents of Ambrahi Village in Dwarka. Officers added that the arrests prevented a targeted killing planned by Amit (alias Dabang), one of the gang’s key members.

According to the investigators, the duo had been recently inducted into the gang and were acting under the instructions of Amit, who had reportedly given them weapons, cash and a target to eliminate.

The gang, active across Delhi and neighbouring states, has been linked to several cases of contract killings, extortion and armed assaults, said police.

The arrests were made following a week-long operation to intensify surveillance on gang activity and intercept illegal arms movement in the district.

Officers said they first received specific information on the intervening night of November 4 and 5 that two young men from Ambrahi Village had been recruited by the Tajpuria gang and were carrying weapons.

A raiding team was immediately formed and deployed around Dhulsiras Chowk. Around midnight, officers intercepted Parth, who was riding a black motorcycle.

The vehicle was later found to be stolen from Dwarka South police station’s jurisdiction, said officers.

A search of Parth’s belongings allegedly yielded a country-made pistol loaded with one live cartridge. Police also seized his mobile phone, which they said contained the Zangi app — an encrypted communication platform allegedly often used by gang members to avoid law enforcement surveillance.

Based on Parth’s disclosures, officers tracked down his associate Vikrant and arrested him on November 7 from Ambrahi Village. A country-made pistol with a live cartridge was found on him as well, along with an additional cartridge in his pocket, said police.

“During his questioning, Parth told police that he had personal enmities in his village and had come into contact with the gang to ‘eliminate’ them. He said the weapons and cash were provided by the gang and they had tasked him to recruit more men for the gang,” said Dwarka DCP Ankit Singh. He added that Vikrant, a cleaner, was lured into joining the gang with promises to earn easy money.

“Accordingly, Vikrant was motivated by him. Vikrant also confirmed his association with Parth and acknowledged involvement in gang related activities,” said DCP Singh.

Police said the arrests have helped crack two cases — an e-FIR registered on October 28 at Dwarka South police station under section 305(b) (theft) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and another lodged on November 5 under the Arms Act at Sector 23 police station.

The seized weapons and ammunition have been sent for forensic examination, while the motorcycle has been returned to its owner.

Senior officers said further investigation is underway. Teams are verifying the claims of the accused, identifying their contacts and tracing the gang’s larger network within Dwarka, particularly its use of encrypted communication platforms to evade surveillance.
