Two killed as car crashes into tree in Naraina

Two persons died and two others were severely injured after a car crashed into a tree in Northwest Delhi’s Naraina Vihar area on Sunday, said police.
The deceased have been identified as Yash Verma, 21, and Lakshit Negi,22; while the injured have been identified as Yash Gupta, 22, and Himanshu,23. All four of them were in the car, which was severely damaged due to the impact of the collision, said officers.
The accident took place around 2:30 am on Sunday when the car hit a tree opposite a Maruti workshop at Goswami Girdhari Lal Marg in Naraina. “The car was being driven by Yash Verma, while Lakshit was sitting at the back,” a police official said.
Upon reaching the spot, the four were found injured and were immediately rushed to the Deen Dayal Upadhaya hospital. “The information regarding an accident was received at Naraina police station at around 2:45 am today. It was found that a Maruti Ciaz had hit a tree. All four injured were taken to hospital, out of which two have lost their lives and two are undergoing treatment,” DCP (West) Vichitra Veer said.
Police have ruled out drunk driving as a possible cause for the accident.
Both the deceased were involved in their family businesses.
