Two boys die after falling in drains

Two days after four children died by drowning in an uncovered ditch,two 12-year-old boys drowned in separate incidents in Outer Delhi on Sunday.

The police said no case was registered in either of the incidents as the boys fell into the drains accidentally while playing with their friends.

In the first case,Aakash,12,died after he fell into a drain near his residence in Mongolpuri,Outer Delhi.

According to the police,the incident occurred at around 12.40 pm in S-Block,Sultanpur.

“While playing,Aakash lost his balance and fell into the Najafgarh drain behind the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital,” a senior police officer said.

The police said the Fire department officials took out Aakash’s body from the drain around 3 pm.

In the second incident,12-year-old Javed died when he fell into a canal in Shahbad Dairy area around noon.

The police said Javed,too,was playing with five of his friends when he accidentally fell into the canal.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Atul Katiyar said no case was registered in the matters as both were accidents.

On Friday,four children died after they fell into a ditch dug by the Delhi Jal Board in North Delhi’s Timarpur area.

Seven children — including Aakash and Javed — have drowned after falling in uncovered ditches or drains in the last week.
