Officers said that they received a PCR call at Rajouri Garden police station about Blinkit delivery staffers allegedly being assaulted.
On inquiry, it was revealed that two men – Aman, 20, and Gurpal Singh, 23 – had allegedly been assaulted at a house where they were delivering items. “Gurpal alleged that the customer hurled religious slurs against him and Sikh community when he asked for change,” said police.
Gurpal’s statement was recorded, wherein he alleged that he went to a house in Rajouri Garden to deliver groceries worth Rs 1,655.
“One Tarun Suri opened the door and allegedly started misbehaving with delivery boys over change of money. The argument led to physical assault on the delivery boys,” said DCP (West) Ghanshyam Bansal.
Accordingly, a case was lodged under IPC section 295A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint) was lodged and investigation was taken up.
The DCP said: “On the other hand, the accused persons also levelled allegations of misbehaviour and use of abusive words with the women present inside the house by delivery staffers, for which necessary action is being taken.”
