Tillu Tajpuriya murder fallout: 7 Tamil Nadu cops posted at Tihar sent back to state

Jail officers said a team of TNSP officers reached the cell within five-eight minutes and brought Tillu to the common room. Another CCTV video showed the accused purportedly following the policemen and stabbing Tillu in front of them as they simply watched.

Acting on the alleged negligence of jail officials, DG Prisons wrote to the Director General of Tamil Nadu Special Force.

Officials Sunday said the Tamil Nadu police has now suspended seven of its officers and called them back. Strict punitive action will be taken against them for not acting on time.

Meanwhile, a jail official said, “An enquiry was conducted and we also found that the siren button inside the jail number 8 was not working at that time. It appears several inmates had tried to press the button and alert police and jail officials but it wasn’t working. We are checking this and will take legal action.”

As per Tillu’s dossier, he had been involved in over 14 cases and was also booked under MCOC Act.

Tillu was the alleged mastermind of the December 2021 murder of his arch-rival, gangster Jitender Mann alias Gogi, inside Rohini court. All the four accused in Tillu’s killing — Deepak alias Titar, Yogesh alias Tunda, Rajesh and Riyaz Khan — are associated with the Gogi gang and claimed his murder was revenge for Gogi’s death.
