Three vehicles burnt by farmers over land acquisition

At around 2:30 PM farmers blocked the road and stopped work on Yamuna Expressway.

Three vehicles were burnt by farmers at Mirzapur this afternoon demanding adequate compensation for their acquired land,officials said.

At around 2:30 PM farmers blocked the road and stopped work on Yamuna Expressway.

When police and Provincial Armed Constabulary men stopped them,the farmers turned violent,they said.

Agitating farmers pelted stones at the police team and burnt three vehicles.

Police lathi charged and fired rubber bullets to disburse the mob.

Farmers claimed over twenty persons were injured due to the alleged police assault on them.

District Magistrate Deepak Aggarwal said violence can not be tolerated and the farmers should shun violence and come to discussion table to solve the problem.
