Despite plummeting prices and general gloom in the art world,Delhi’s art galleries valiantly plod on with new shows. A month-long exhibition “Graphically Speaking” at Delhi’s Gallerie Ganesha showcases 25 works of 15 artists. There are etchings of artist Dipak Banerjee depicting Lord Shiva and Parvati titled Visweswar while renowned Santiniketan artist Sanat Kar’s untitled etching treads the quotidian line with contorted faces ranged in a green background,capturing the tumult in everyday life. NCR based artist Yashpal Chandrakar says,“Etchings is an old medium practiced by old masters such as Rembrandt,Leonardo Da Vinci,Picasso and other such luminaries of their time. The main thing is harmony of form,colour and composition.” Chandrakar’s work depicts a lantern and a kettle whose outlines are blurred. The works begin at Rs 30,000 and go up to Rs 60,000.
