Sunanda Pushkar murder case: Gujarat lab trying to recover data from Sunanda’s laptops, phones
Delhi Police had handed over two laptops and four mobile phones to Gujarat DFS to retrieve the data.
The Directorate of Forensic Sciences (DFS) in Gandhinagar is working on retrieving data allegedly “missing” from the laptops and mobile phones of the late Sunanda Pushkar, wife of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor.
On January 20, the Delhi Police had handed over two laptops and four mobile phones to Gujarat DFS to retrieve the data.
DFS Gandhinagar director J M Vyas said, “We have the software and technology to retrieve lost data from laptops and mobile phones. The Delhi Police has asked us to check the contents of both the gadgets as this will help the ongoing investigation in the case.”
Sources at the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) said while examining Pushkar’s laptops and mobile phones, investigators were led to believe that the hard drives may have been tampered with.
“Pushkar used her laptops for emails and social media interactions. The hard drives of the laptops, where she is believed to have saved crucial data, are being scrutinised. However, we don’t know whether that data was related to her husband or something else and if it had been deleted on purpose,” a senior official of the FSL said.
“If the data is found deleted, it will be retrieved and given to the Delhi Police. This will include data on her communication as well,” the official said.
Pushkar’s mobile phones are also getting scanned for data retrieval.
Investigators believe that she had exchanged “heated” texts with a few persons and also spoke to a few close friends about a pressing problem in her life before she was found dead.
Journalist Nalini Singh, who spoke to sunanda night before, questioned
New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Friday questioned senior journalist Nalini Singh in connection with the murder of Sunanda Pushkar. The questioning, which lasted for over 80 minutes in South Delhi’s Sarojini Nagar police station, revealed that Pushkar was upset about Tharoor’s alleged relationship with Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar.
Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi said, “All the relevant information was sought from her by the SIT. We will also call other journalists who were in contact with Pushkar to join the investigation. Tharoor will also be called again for questioning.”
Singh was asked about her telephonic conversation with Pushkar a night before she was found dead. Police said Singh told them that Pushkar was aware of her husband’s alleged affair six months before she died. Police also said Singh was questioned on Tharoor’s involvement in the IPL scandal and if Pushkar had told her anything about it.
