Sub-inspector among 5 cops caught redhanded taking ‘bribe’
Another matter was reported from Patparganj Industrial Area police station from where two head constables were apprehended while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.

The CBI Friday allegedly caught five police personnel red-handed while they were accepting bribes in three different cases, officials said. The arrested personnel include a sub-inspector posted at Hauz Khas police station in the South district.
In the first matter, the CBI received information that a Delhi Police sub-inspector was demanding Rs 2.5 lakh from a man against whom a complaint was filed at Saket Court. The CBI conducted a raid inside Hauz Khas police station and caught him.
Another matter was reported from Patparganj Industrial Area police station from where two head constables were apprehended while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.
In the third case, a head constable, posted with the Special Branch and deployed at Govindpuri police station, was arrested for accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000 from a resident for clearing passport verification.
Earlier this month, the CBI lodged its first FIR under the newly-enforced Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against two Delhi Police personnel, posted with the narcotics cell of North district, for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 10 lakh to help in the release of a person lodged in Tihar Jail. The BNS has replaced the British-era Indian Penal Code (IPC).
This year, over a dozen police personnel of Delhi Police were arrested by the CBI on the charges of corruption.
