To make daily travel comfortable for people, especially those who use multiple modes of transportation such as auto, bus, Metro and cab, Delhi Transport Department is soon going to start a ‘single journey ticketing’ system.
Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot said the scheme will provide a hassle-free commute to people. “It will be an all-in-one trip,” he added.
A transport official said, under this facility, auto and DTC buses have been integrated into an app — Tummoc. “A passenger can select the all-in-one option and add their current location and destination. Once it is done, multiple options will show along with suggestions of mode of transport including timing and price,” said an official.
Explaining further, the official said, “For instance, if you want to travel between Delhi Secretariat and Mandi House Metro station and then to Mayur Vihar, the app will give you suggestions of nearest bus stand, bus number, auto and Metro station…If there is no bus stand in walking distance, you can book an auto, pay and then buy a ticket.” The official added, “Your all-in-one journey will be booked in one ticket and you will have to pay only once.”
Officials said the scheme will soon be launched officially by the department to create awareness among the public.
Further, the department is also going to launch a digital ticketing system in DTC and cluster buses.
“Currently, such a facility is available in the Metro. Similar ones are being planned in buses where there will be scanners pasted near the seats and other areas…” said an official.
