Delhi Police on Saturday said a businessman had been falsely implicated in a rape and kidnapping case. Police said the businessmans son Harkesh had masterminded the plan.
In the complaint,a 19-year-old woman claimed that after a visit to the Nizamuddin dargah,she had taken a lift in a Honda City,with a couple she did not know. She claimed that after dropping the couple at Ashram Chowk,the driver had taken her to an isolated area and attempted to rape her. When she resisted,the driver had reportedly slapped her and fled. The woman also claimed she had left behind Rs 20,000 cash,her mobile phone and earrings in the car.
Based on the details provided by the woman,police traced the car to Faridabad. They detained the owner,who matched the description provided by the woman. Police also found an earring,and the womans mobile phone.
However,during questioning,the man said claimed he suspected his son Harkesh (18) and Harkeshs friend Raza Hassan (22) were involved in getting him arrested. The businessman claimed he had got the two arrested for stealing jewellery worth Rs 14 lakh from his house last December.
The car owner claimed that he was not in Delhi when the alleged attempt to rape took place and that his car was parked in Faridabad.
To verify the businessmans claim,police questioned Harkeshs friend Raza Hassan. He told police that Harkesh had promised them Rs 10 lakh to file the fake rape complaint.
He told police that Harkesh had made the plan to seize his fathers automobile parts business.
Police said they have recorded the statements of Hassan,his wife and Harkesh. They have sought custody of the trio,the court orders for which are yet to be issued.
