Slander ‘bug’ in BJP candidate’s website

Charging that the Congress has played foul on the Internet and hijacked her e-campaign,BJP’s Gurgaon candidate Sudha Yadav on Monday gave a written complaint to the police.

‘Fake’ site in Sudha Yadav’s name sings praises of Congress, maligns L K Advani, say Gurgaon BJP leaders

Charging that the Congress has played foul on the Internet and hijacked her e-campaign,BJP’s Gurgaon candidate Sudha Yadav on Monday gave a written complaint to the police.

In her complaint,Yadav has mentioned that her official website http://www.sudhayadav.net has been copied in another website using the domain http://www.sudhayadav.com and accused the Congress of defamation and cyber crime.

BJP workers came to submit a complaint with the DCP (West) Rakesh Arya on Yadav’s behalf.

Yadav had earlier filed a written complaint with the Election Commission of India against one Sandeep Yadav for creating the false website.

“A person with the email ID of mail@sudhayadav.com and mobile number 995850105 has prepared a false and misleading website. Though the site gives my introduction,it displays the manifesto of my Congress rival Rao Inderjeet Singh with the intention of interfering with my election campaign…” reads the complaint letter dated April 15,2009.

Asked how they came to know such a “dubious” website existed,Sanjiv Narang, national member of the BJP IT Cell said their supporters had pointed it out to them.

He also mentioned that somebody was peddling a website to him.

“A few weeks ago,I was approached by a person who wanted to sell me a website dedicated to Sudha Yadav. I refused, and now there is a duplicate website maligning her.”

Kamal Yadav, president of the youth wing of the Gurgaon BJP said: “The rival candidate Inderjeet Singh is behind this. He has got “someone” to create a site with an identical name and put a link to his website.”

When one clicks on the “fake” website http://www.sudhayadav.com,it opens a page with “L K Advani — Determined Leader,Decisive” written in bold. The accompanying report, however,is on the Babri Masjid demolition and sarcastically mentions he will remain a “PM in waiting”.

Gurgaon police have confirmed that they received a written complaint from the BJP candidate.

“We’ll investigate the matter and cannot say as of now whether it is a case of cyber crime. It could also be a case of defamation or a case where a website has been created by two people with same name. We will give the matter to our cyber cell to investigate and necessary action will be taken,” said DCP Arya.

Rao Inderjeet could not be contacted.
