Constable Ajay Kumar Taneja, from Lajpat Nagar police station, claimed that he was “hurt” by Arvind Kejriwal’s remark and felt “insulted and defamed” by it.
A constable of the Delhi Police on Thursday filed a criminal defamation complaint in a local court against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who recently used the derogatory word “thulla” to describe policemen.
Constable Ajay Kumar Taneja, from Lajpat Nagar police station, claimed that he was “hurt” by Kejriwal’s remark and felt “insulted and defamed” by it.
This is the second complaint filed by a constable of the Delhi Police on the issue.

On Wednesday, constable Harvinder from Govindpuri police station too had filed a case of criminal defamation against the CM in a Delhi court.
“If a word like ‘thulla’ is used by an eminent personality like Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, to refer to personnel of Delhi Police, then the general public would have no respect or regard for police personnel who dedicate their entire lives to maintaining law and order in the capital,” said Taneja.
In his plea, the policeman stated that he tried to get in touch with the CM by calling his office, his residence and even the helpline numbers of the Delhi government, but there was no “positive response”.
“Due to the acute agony and hurt caused by the attitude of Kejriwal towards the Delhi Police, the complainant was unable to concentrate on his job as he was very much disturbed,” his plea said.
The plea said that Kejriwal is liable to be prosecuted for committing offences punishable under sections 500 and 504 (insult intended to provoke breach of peace) of the Indian Penal Code.
In response to Kejriwal’s remark, Dharmender Yadav, SSP Ghaziabad, has told his men to “reply by doing good work”.
